Hey yall! I’m running a little after this morning because I was busy with my boyfriend, Uncle Joey!
AHH! I don’t see many celebrities, so I was super excited to meet Dave Coulier and find out firsthand that he’s a really nice guy in real life.
I met him while I was preparing my WCCB Rising Segment in the Studio.
In the end, we ran after it and had to pass pretty fast, but you can watch Kristine and I make Calzones together!
I thought it wouldn’t hurt to give a little more detail about the process here, so if you make them heart-shaped or football-shaped for Valentine’s Day (would be so cute !) for this weekend’s big game, these are definitely a hit with kids and mature alike.
You will need:
– pizza dough
– mozzarella (shredded)
– Pizza sauce
– desired toppings (I propose finely diced peppers, spinach and olives)
I suggest making your own dough. I love this whole grain dough version, but you can also buy Croissant or pizza dough from the store. However, for ready-made products, you want to pay attention to trans fats, which have so many of them (partially hydrogenated oils).
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and roll the dough very thinly (1/4-1/2 inch).
Using a cookie cutter, cut out hearts of the same size or desired shape.
Fill the middle with a thin layer of pizza sauce, toppings and cheese.
Brush the tips with egg whites. You can sprinkle Parmesan over the egg whites if desired. Then put in the oven for 10-15 minutes until cooked. Serve with extra pizza sauce!
